spicy spritz cocktail recipe

We asked another one of our bartenders to share a recipe from our summer cocktail list, and Inga was only happy to oblige. The Spicy Spritz turns the Italian classic cocktail on its head, with a dark rum base, some fruity notes from pear and lime, a fresh twist from cucumber and a wee kick from green chilli. It’s certainly a bit of a balancing act!

You’ll need: a Boston shaker, a Hawthorne strainer and a wine glass.

ingredients

1 cucumber ribbon
A long side of green chilli
50ml Dark Matter rum
25ml pear liqueur
25ml lime juice
Soda water
Garnish: long slice of red chilli

method

1. Wrap the cucumber ribbon around the inside of the wine glass, add the green chilli, then top with cubed ice.
2. Add all of the other ingredients—except the soda water—to the Boston shaker with cubed ice and shake until the tin frosts over. Strain into the glass.
3. Top with soda water and garnish with the red chilli.
